Sweet Tempered is a woman-owned, local bakery that specializes in one of a kind designer cakes for all occasions. Sweet Tempered opened it's doors in August 2006 with Executive Pastry Chef Christy Hughes crafting delicious sweets and Creative Director Jennifer Crandell building business across town. Christy Hughes has over ten years of experience in the culinary industry-- three of which were spent as Executive Pastry Chef at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Restaurant. She has also worked for other top Austin restaurants such as Emilia's and Uchi. Jennifer Crandell graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications and has several years of sales, marketing, public relations, and operations management experience. She also has experience working within the restaurant industry.
Not only does Sweet Tempered create amazing three dimensional, specialty, and wedding cakes, they also sell some of their delectable desserts at local eateries. Their treats can be found at Little City, Epoch and Oakville Grocery in The Domain.
As if these ladies didn't have enough on their cake plate, they recently added a new addition to their bakery. On August 10th, 2007, Jennifer Crandell gave birth to Lily June Crandell. Growing up in a bakery, this little girl really will be made of sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Sweet Tempered participated in the 18th Annual La Dolce Vita event for the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria. Executive Pastry Chef Christy Hughes created a wonderful Lemoncello-Rosemary cake that was similar to a tres leches cake. It was so sinful and a big hit at La Dolce Vita. |
